Kentucky Derby Museum Flood
August 6, 2009 - Many of you have heard the news stories about our recent damage from the floods on Tuesday. What started as a trickle in the curator’s office turned quickly to geysers of water from the ceilings in the collection and archives storage. Then, the bathrooms started to overflow out into the main floor of the museum. Meanwhile, the parking lot in front of the museum quickly flooded and cars began floating down Central Ave. read entire story

August 19, 2009 - Following a brief procedure to correct a breathing problem, Mine That Bird, winner of the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I), departed the Ruffian Equine Medical Center shortly after noon Tuesday Aug. 18 to return to Saratoga and continue preparations for the 140th running of the $1-million Shadwell Travers Stakes (gr. Calvin Borel back on MINE THAT BIRD - Roswell, NM – August 30, 2009 – Co-owners Mark Allen and Dr. Leonard Blach announced today that Calvin Borel will once again be aboard MINE THAT BIRD. Borel and Mine That Bird are meeting in California shortly after Labor Day.
Mine That Bird will ship after greeting his New Mexico fans when he leads the G1 All American Futurity post parade at Ruidoso Downs. The dynamic duo are scheduled to enter the $350,000 Goodwood Stakes (G1) on October 10th at the Oak Tree at Santa Anita Park meeting. The pair will continue on together in this year’s $5,000,000 Breeders' Cup Classic on Nov. 7th.
